“WHO….WHO IS BTS?”
I first heard this acronym from Gorgeous (Daughter No. 1) when she was 15. No, it does not stand for Beat that Sugar or Buy those Shoes.
BTS is only the current hottest Korean Boy Band around, holding that title since God knows when. And recently these boys even made a speech before the United Nations to support the launch of The United Nation Youth Strategy, which aims to get youths in school or age appropriate work by 2030 through innovative programs.
Future Son-in-L material perhaps?
When your daughter first mentions “boy’ and ‘love’ in the same breath, it’s time to listen up.
Gorgeous’s favorite in BTS was the boy Jung Kook ♥♥♥ *hearts for effect so that you can imagine the love from daughter as she shares about her heartthrob.
Since then, BTS Jung Kook T-shirts, bomber jackets, posters, screen savers etc etc have appeared in this household.
So when Gorgeous turned 16, Mom decided what better gift for the occasion than a home made Sweet 16 Jung Kook Jelly Heart Cake.
Note – It is perhaps also apt to remember this cake as BTS is performing their first ever concert in Singapore, come 19 January 2019.
Yes many sweet young things on our sunny island have long waited with bated breath for this moment. Of course, Gorgeous and Beautiful (Daughter No.2) are going. Attendance is self financed so this mom is not asking any further in case sponsorship gets requested.
Okay, back to cake….the BTS Sweet 16 Jelly Heart Cake is a light NO BAKE cheese cake topped with strawberry hearts and a delicious layer of strawberry flavored Jello.
For my Sweet 16 star, two laminated and thoroughly scrubbed photos of BTS heartthrob JK crowns the 10 x 10 inch square cake, enshrined in the pink jello, surrounded by strawberry hearts, for that added dreamy idol effect.
Needless to say, this BTS Sweet 16 Jelly Heart Cake took it over the TOP. The reaction?
My Sweet 16 school debater was tongue tied, speechless, delighted, overjoyed and overwhelmed, all at the same time.
We had to present the cake twice. The first look was only allowed for admiration and adoration.
With oohs and aahs at seeing the Idol on cake, the Birthday Girl could not bear to slice – so back it went, into the fridge where the Idol was immortalised, chilled and admired some more.
The cake was only tasted the 2nd time after much persuasion and might I mention, very carefully cut with a surgeon’s eye and precision.
Naturally, the Idol on cake was preserved, and he lived in our fridge to be worshiped and adored for the rest of the birthday month! A marvelously delirious and successful Sweet 16 celebration if I may say so.
Finally, for creating this heart-stopping Jung Kook Sweet 16 Jelly Heart Cake, I was described on Instagram as ‘my mama knows my heart’
Yes, please go ahead and tick that 5⭐️ mom box – thank you very much 😊
