Life & TV

“Mom, it’s a scam ..”

“It’s a phishing email. These people are pros..”

My heart wondered as I listened. You see, earlier that evening, I checked my SugarCrumble mail and chanced upon one received from a lady called Jiayi who said she was from Mediacorp.

She expressed that they liked my durian recipes on the Sugar Crumble blog and wanted to see if I would be keen to collaborate on a segment on Channel 8 Hello Singapore《狮城有约生活小学堂》to demonstrate a durian recipe, for the season.

Wow, Wow, Wow, this was Super Exciting! It has always been my heart to connect through baking, to teach and empower other fellow foodies and the like with the Sugar Crumble’s favorite recipes. If this could really happen and on national TV, I would be blown away!

Was it a dream?Was it a dream … ?

But that was before daughters spoke and now their words echoed … Should I even reply the email?  The seed of doubt has been sown – the dots are probably right. Too good to be true. Why would Mediacorp want me? Just a hobbyist food blogger; other then a small following of family and friends, an unknown.

Often, it’s the age old battle between mind and heart for they seldom want the same thing. I said a prayer against negative thoughts and decided to let peace be my guide.

MediaCorp TeamThey came … they are legit!

Sometimes we underestimate Him and forget that He has different ways. By divine intervention, Hubby turned Sherlock, did some sleuthing and confirmed that Mediacorp did indeed have a journalist by that name. The heart had peace; it felt right and I contacted Jiayi for a chat.

We got on immediately. Jiayi was personable, bubbly and full of ideas; a vivacious young mother of two who has an infectious verve and zest for what she does.

How about something healthy like durian green bean soup? – she asked. I remember smiling weakly and replying sheepishly …. Errrm, my kids don’t take green beans and I have not made this before …

Durian De-SeededDurian gold & green bean …😅 ??

In all fairness, durian green bean soup could probably be a delicious dessert but I knew I will never find out; for I know my girls, pigs will fly before they allow durian green bean soup in this household 😬 😬 ! But I digress …..

The Sugar Crumble remembers telling Mediacorp – Are you sure? I’m an amateur, I have not done this before …  Well, as the amateur talked to the professional, one thing led to another and that Sunday morning, the Mediacorp team turned up in full gear and the Sugar Crumble ended up having her moment in the sun or rather, TV lighting 😄 😄 !

Dream come true!And it’s A WRAP!

I recently caught up with an old schoolmate and she asked me – so what’s next, Sugar Crumble?

You know what … I don’t know; all I know is – where He leads, I will follow ♥️ ♥️

The Bible says every good gift comes from the Father.

As we end the year 2021, my heart is full with thanksgiving. Of this gift of Life & TV, did I mention the Sugar Crumble thoroughly thoroughly enjoyed herself?

She is truly thankful, grateful & blessed to have had the surreal, heart stopping but equally wonderful and eye opening experience baking with MediaCorp & their team!

The professionalsHe sent me the pros!

~~~
“For He can do exceedingly, abundantly,
immeasurably beyond all that
we can hope for or imagine.”
~~~

Simply vlogging is not simple when it comes to the Father. He sent in the professionals! And HE SMASHED IT … to the smithereens and back! All Glory to Him! 🙌🏻 😆 😆

PS: Inspired by the Wife, Hubby Poet wrote this to remember Life & TV ♥️
